Compression Technology 1stWorks requirement for the most efficient real time multimedia content delivery in hotComm has led directly to our development of original and innovative lossless data compression technology.
Multiple patent claims have been granted for Quantized Indexing, the first general purpose implementation of an entropy coder using combinatorial mathematics applied to enumerative encoding. This innovative algorithm
produces compressed output which is up to 50% smaller and always closer to entropy than the leading examples of Huffman and Arithmetic coders, regardless of the properties of the symbol source content.
Quantized Indexing also executes the compression process far more efficiently, in the general range of 2 to 200 times faster than the most highly tuned Arithmetic coder, and this advantage is multiplied on the lower powered processors typically employed in hand held, battery powered devices.
As a combinatorial solution rather than one based on probabilities, there is no initial delay in assembling and updating symbol statistics consequently Quantized Indexing is highly adaptive to small blocks and to dynamically changing symbol distribution in the source content which makes Quantized Indexing remarkably effective for real time audio and video transmission
applications.
Additional claims have been filed to extend this innovative indexing method into all forms of ranking, computation, communication, storage and search.
hotComm currently incorporates 1stWorks earlier generation business graphics compression technology for the presentation of dynamic chart content, technology which is currently outperforming the best available alternatives by up to 35%.
